UN Orientation & New Staff Foundation
About This Programme
This programme is designed for professionals at the beginning of their engagement with the UN system — whether as applicants, newly appointed staff, or early-career professionals in multilateral settings. It provides the foundational knowledge needed to navigate onboarding, understand institutional norms, and begin contributing effectively from day one.
The course covers UN values and competencies, workplace culture, administrative procedures, duty of care responsibilities, and the professional standards expected across all UN entities. Exercises simulate real onboarding scenarios including completing mandatory training, understanding contractual obligations, and navigating administrative systems.
Graduates enter their roles with clarity about how the UN operates, what is expected of them, and how to position themselves for long-term professional growth within the multilateral system.
